At 213 miles, the Daniel Boone Historic Route will have guests taking in lots of local history. Daniel Boone was an iconic frontiersman who greatly aided the western expansion of the nation. Guests will have the opportunity to visit Fort Boonesborough State Park and have lunch at Historic Boone Tavern. The tavern is located in the town of Berea, known as the gateway to Appalachia.
Butcher Holler Route offers guests the opportunity to visit the birthplace of the “Queen of Country Music” -- the late Lorretta Lynn. While enjoying the 200-mile route, riders can stop at the Webb’s General Store operated by some of Lorretta’s family or enjoy southern comfort food at Jenny Wiley’s State Park.
Red River Gorge - Natural Bridge Route offers 131 miles of great mountain roads, combined with a visit to Kentucky’s most famous geographical formations of limestone. Guests can take in Nada Tunnel, a 900-foot hand-dug tunnel for transporting logs that was constructed in the early 1900s for the Dana Timer Company. While in the area, guests can enjoy Natural Bridge State Park’s Sandstone Arches Restaurant or a favorite local stop called Miguel’s on Highway #11.
The Curvy Mountain Route is just what you’d expect from its name. The 183-mile route offers guests great riding, with plenty of curves and elevation changes. The route passes through small towns to give riders a look at what mountain life is like for the residents. Be aware that one section of the route includes some gravel. The route was damaged by local area flooding and repairs are a work in progress. If you do not have experience on gravel, it would not be a good time to learn -- so please adjust your route.
Lunch Loop is a shorter 45-mile route that will take guests into the historic town of Hazard, Kentucky, with a lunch stop along the way. It can be added to another route to have a full day in the saddle or offer guests and/or passengers plenty of recovery time off of the bike to enjoy the park.
The Adventure Route provides plenty of primitive, remote routes to enjoy. With names like “Hell for Certain” and “Loony Tunes”, the 135-mile route will give guests a variety of stories to tell at the Saturday night dinner. Due to remote area, lunch stops will be limited, so enjoy a large breakfast and pack some snacks for your tank bag.
The incredible Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park will be the base of operations for the event.
All lodging has been blocked out for our guests. However, it’s available on a first come, first served basis. Reservations at the lodge can be booked by calling 606-398-7510 and press 1. You will need to provide them the event code of “1825” to book a room. If you visit the park’s website, the property will show sold out for the weekend. You must call.
The campground for Buckhorn Lake State Park is now under the control of the local county economic development. For campground reservations, call 606-568-3869. The campground offers both Tent and RV camping with water and electric services and a bathhouse. If you get the voicemail, please leave a message and they will call you back. You will need to let them know that you're with the BMW MOA/Rides4Fun event.
All camping and lodging options are located within the park.
